Dressember 3rd

3 Dresses on Dressember 3rd

Celebrating Freedom and Femininity

------------------

Did you know?

"CHENNAI, INDIA – The week of November 18th, 2013, 59 girls were rescued from slavery [Through the efforts of IJM] in a factory that markets itself in the country as a conscientious food supplier of high-quality, organic pickles.
"The girls—13 to 25 years old—were forced to work 16-hour days in the unsanitary factory, exposed to dangerous chemicals and barely nourished by rice and water boiled with onions. At night, they crammed mats into a two tiny rooms; 40 girls slept in one space about the size of a small studio apartment in New York City.
"The girls had been trapped in the abusive factory for several months. They told shocking stories of how they got there—most said they had been tricked by the same man offering a sightseeing trip down South for about $15. The girls were from impoverished families, and the opportunity had seemed too good to pass up." Read the whole story here...

Girls 13 to 25 years old...

Grace 13yrs - Kerry 25yrs
Grace [Founder of Campaign1:17] and I are great friends. We are very different and so much alike. When I read the above article I realized we represent the age range of the girls rescued from the slave labor factory in India. We live full free lives. We work and play with our families. We go to church and worship God with no persecution. We hang out with friends, go out to eat, and go shopping any day of the week. 59 girls were tricked and this freedom, that I take for granted everyday, was taken away from them.

We praise the Lord that these girls have been given the freedom to live away from the abuse they endured!

But there are still girls being tricked and trapped into all kinds of modern-day slavery.

Dressember is our way to promote awareness.

Dressember the 2nd

Dressember 2nd

Here's Dress number 2!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you know that experts estimate that at least 27 million people are held in some form of modern-day slavery today?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And on the second day of Dressember, I got some VERY exciting news!! I have a sponsor!!!

She has committed to giving 25 cents to Campaign1:17 for IJM for every dress that I wear. :^) [She was particular about me proving to her that I was really wearing a dress every day; even asked me to come by her house every day so she could see my dresses]

Meet Hope. She is 5 years old. She is my First Sponsor!

But that wasn't all that Hope had to share with me today. She decided to take the challenge too! She's wearing a dress everyday of December to raise awareness for modern-day slavery!

BUT WAIT, There's more!

Meet Sara. She's 7. And she's A-Dress-ing social justice.
Look at her cute dress for Dressember 2nd! She also decided to sponsor me this month!!

-------
So, you may be thinking, what could a 5 year old and a 7 year old do to change the world? They don't have to change the world - God will do that. All they have to do is reach out to the person God places in front of them. Maybe that person is you.
-------

Maybe they wont change the world for every person. But they could make a world of change for one person.

Wanna join the fun??

Dressember - A-dress-ing social justice

**We interrupt my late postings of the November JoyDare to bring you this important message**

It's December, people! *whew* That month flew by!

December + Dresses = Dressember

"A-dress-ing social justice in the 21st century. A month of wearing dresses to raise money for International Justice Mission to combat human trafficking."

I've decided to try this. And seeing as I only have about 10 dresses, it will be interesting to see how I will be obtaining the other 21 dresses that will be needed for this project. It's gonna be hard. It's gonna be over the top some days. It's gonna get some attention. [that's the plan, anyways]. To raise awareness about the efforts of IJM {International Justice Mission} to save woman, children and men from the shackles of modern day slavery.

Did you know 27 million people are currently trapped in slavery? That's more than during the entire course of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. I'm participating in Dressember, a month of dresses, to help International Justice Mission and Campaign1:17 end modern-day slavery.
Are you intrigued by this adventure? Want to follow me in this month of dresses?
  • Sign up here to the blog where I will post a collection of photos from the most recent days every so often.
  •   Follow on Instagram @kiwikilynn to get daily dress pics
  • Go to Campaign1:17 to sponsor me this month!
This is an amazing opportunity to give a gift that will keep on giving this Christmas season. I hope you will pray about supporting me and sponsoring me this month. Perhaps a Dollar a Dress?? That's only $31 dollars. If everyone can only give what they are led to give, we can make a huge impact for the lives of many people. 'It only takes a little spark to get a fire going' Grace at Campaign 1:17 has lit a spark, I foresee a blaze in the future. Please go here and read the passion that has been lit in her heart.
Dressember 1st
*Note: I didn't come up with 'Dressember' myself, unfortunately, cause it's super cute! It was started by a young woman just a couple years ago, and she did it to directly benefit the work of IJM. You can learn more of her story here: www.Dressember.net Since I know a passionate young girl who is already campaigning for IJM I am asking that anyone who DOES WANT TO SPONSOR me this month make their donations directly to Grace who is giving every red cent to IJM to free humans from injustice and bondage.

Step Up

There is a place where we get to, a point in our life where we are given a choice. We've been given some kind of news, information, an awakening or enlightenment. Then there is the choice. To step up. Or back down.

Photo: Share to shake the chains of #slavery. During the month of November, RWL Design is giving us $1 for every new Facebook like to our page up to $1,000. That means sharing about us on Facebook can literally help free slaves.

As you look back on your life, you can probably pinpoint times where you stood up. It was hard, or maybe it was easy. But the ultimate result was a victory gained, a life improved, an enemy pounded and hope restored.

Can you remember those times when you backed down?? When there was hope within the grasp of the weak and you let go of the rope, you dropped the lifeline and let them fall? Those regrets are often only shadows compared to that of the pain of the one who was let down.

Each year, nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade. (UNICEF)

Since she was rescued from slavery, Susheela has flourished. Now she raises goats and supports her family.
1 in 5 women is a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. (U. N. Development Fund for Women)

This family was once in slavery in #India, but are now free to flourish.

27 million men, women and children are held as slaves. (Kevin Bales, Disposable People)

Meet Grace

She's stepping up.

Yeah, she's only 13.

Yeah, she's only one girl.

But she has freedom. She has a voice. Which is more than those caught in slavery and sex trafficking have. It is more than those orphaned and abandoned have. She has hope. And she is reaching out from where she is to share that hope with the weak and poor.

"Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the power of the wicked." Psalms 82:3-4

This is where you can read all about:
*the campaign she has organized
*the reasons WHY she organized it
*WHY it's called Campaign 1:17
*what top rated organization she is partnering with to help free slaves and change lives.
*AND how YOU can be a part

Birthday's for Babies

I'd like to introduce you to Bethany. A young woman who is impacting the world with the love of Christ.

God gave her a vision and called it Birthday's for Babies. She is getting behind Pro-life organizations and opening doors for people like you and me can participate in the campaign to save the lives of the babies in our country.

Through her passion and story, God inspired me to write a song in honor of her campaign. Listen below, share with your family and friends.

Go visit Bethany's Blog and find out just how far reaching this is, who all is involved, and how you can save a life.

Blessings!
